Website Revision Ideas?

(4 posts)
  1. What would you like to see changed about the website?

Let me first say I really like the design and have gotten very, very good feedback. It is built to be easy on the eyes and not too busy. I never want one of those blogs with links all over the place and advertising banners on every edge. That said, I have some ideas that I think can add value to the website and increase readership (yes, this is a word, I just checked) without cluttering it too much.

-Allowing pictures, video and html coding in blog and forum comments.
-Links for each blog post to Digg and other websites to draw attention to a particular entry. I'm still unsure if the payoff here is actually worth putting those little icons after each post.

That's really it for now. Keep me updated on what you think of the website design and improvement ideas!

  2. Hey Brook, you don't have to add the Digg icons. You can use the "Addthis" Wordpress plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/addthis/). Just get the file, upload it to the server, configure in your WP dashboard, and it will automatically add a bookmarking widget to every post. It let's people forward a post or notify whichever sites you want to let them without any changes to your site or the need to sign up for each service.

  3. Great idea. I'll do it with the next website overhaul (might be a few months)!

By the way, pictures and videos can now be embedded in forum comments, but not to blog article comments. I think it's best this way.

  4. Well, the Digg icons thing is done. Unfortunately, with an update to Wordpress, one of the plugins doesn't work so well...what that means is the little tabs on the side with recent/favorite/popular posts doesn't function for the forseeable future.
