Need ideas for Asia!

  1. Let me know your thoughts and ideas for Asian countries!
I already have some travel plans and events in mind, but I know I'm missing a lot of great things. What crazy, adventurous, weird, alternative, off-the-beaten-path things have you done or heard of in Asia?

Entering foreign gameshows and contests, climbing the tallest mountain in a country, living with some unusual alternative group, learning how to cook exotic foods, meeting a famous person that no one in North America has heard of...

Throw some ideas out that we can research, to really discover the ends of the earth.
Here are the specific places I'll be visiting in Asia, but all destinations are open. I'll go anywhere.

Japan, Korea, Philippines, Samoa, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau, Cambodia, Mongolia

  4. India is high on the list, and I'll probably go early next year. I'd like to do the Rickshaw Run and visit Bollywood. Do you think I could get a part as an extra, maybe playing the suave Westerner?

Butterfly, I would love to climb Everest. I need to start training by getting in shape first, then learning how to climb!

You should do the Battan Death March through the Philippines. Or take the tour. Whatever you do...dont go to Mindinao unless you want to be captured by the MILF!

  6. For those worried about me being captured by MILFs, Bullwax is talking about this MILF. I'll look into the Death March.

Go to Thailand. My friend just got back from Phuket and posted some amazing pictures. It is on my long list of places to go.

Cao Son Vietnam is a good choice for something unique and special. It is a great place to enjoy the endless local tribal hospitality. ( www.caoson-eco-lodge.com)

If you go to Thailand, let me know. My friends mother is Thai (can't remember if you met Bill when at my parents) and can probably hook you up with some of her family.

  10. Natalie, I'll definitely visit Thailand. Everyone tells me it's so beautiful and exciting and such a bargain. I'm not sure how the timeline is going to work out since I have to be in Vietnam during Mid Aug-Mid Sep(that's when my visa is). The Thai visa I can get anytime.

Kevin, I'll keep you updated on when I get there. I'd love to have an inside look at things. Maybe they can teach me how to cook some Thai dishes, and I'll show them how to make French Toast!

flencio, I checked out Cao Son...it's way out there! I'm thinking of doing a motorbike tour of Northern Vietnam, and this sounds like a great place to visit. Thanks for the suggestion!

Keep the suggestions coming! These are awesome.
